Cairns and the Atherton Tablelands are two special places in Queensland, Australia, perfect for exploring nature and having fun. Cairns is a tropical city by the coast, known for its beautiful beaches and the Great Barrier Reef. Just a short drive away are the Atherton Tablelands, a cool, hilly area full of rainforests, waterfalls, and farms. The weather in Cairns and the Atherton Tablelands is tropical, which means it’s warm most of the year. In summer, from December to February, Cairns can be very hot and humid, with temperatures often reaching 30°C (86°F) or more. Summer is also the wet season, which means it rains a lot. There are big thunderstorms that can make everything feel cooler for a little while, but the rain helps keep the area green and beautiful.

In winter, from June to August, the weather is much cooler and more comfortable. Cairns has temperatures around 24°C (75°F) during the day, which is perfect for visiting the beach or going on outdoor adventures. The nights can be a little cooler, around 16°C (61°F). The Atherton Tablelands, being higher up in the mountains, is even cooler in winter, with temperatures around 18°C (64°F) during the day and colder nights.
