Canberra
Canberra is the capital city of Australia. It is located in the southeastern part of the country, between two big cities: Sydney and Melbourne. Even though it’s not the biggest city in Australia, it’s very important because it’s where the Australian government works. Canberra was chosen to be the capital in 1908 because both Sydney and Melbourne wanted to be the capital, so they decided to build a new city in the middle.
One of the coolest things about Canberra is that it’s a planned city. This means that the streets, buildings, and parks were all designed carefully before they were built. There are lots of green spaces, with large parks and nature reserves where people can go for walks, bike rides, and enjoy nature. There are also beautiful lakes, like Lake Burley Griffin, where you can go boating and have fun.
Canberra has many important places, like the Parliament House, where the government leaders make important decisions. The Australian War Memorial is also in Canberra, and it remembers the soldiers who fought in wars. There are also museums and galleries where you can learn about Australia’s history and art.
Even though Canberra is a city full of work and government, it’s also a fun place for families. It has cool playgrounds, festivals, and events that make it a nice place to live or visit. Canberra is a special city where nature and politics come together!
