Location

Lord Howe Island is a tiny island in the middle of the ocean, far away from the busy cities of Australia. It is about 600 kilometers east of a town called Port Macquarie in New South Wales. In winter (June to August), it gets a little cooler, but never too cold, with temperatures between 13°C and 18°C (55°F to 64°F). It can rain at any time of the year, but the rain helps the forests stay green and full of life. The ocean water is warm, so people can swim and snorkel almost every day of the year!

How to Get There

The only way to get to Lord Howe Island is by airplane. There are no big boats or ferries that take people there. Small planes fly from Sydney and Brisbane, and it takes about two hours to get to the island. Since only a small number of people can visit at a time, it is a good idea to book flights early! When visitors arrive, they can walk, ride bikes, or take small cars to explore the island. There are no big roads or traffic, so it is a quiet and relaxing place where families can enjoy nature and have fun outdoors!
