Longreach

Longreach is a small, friendly town in Queensland, Australia, located in the heart of the Outback. It’s famous for its history and connection to Australian country life. Longreach is where the Royal Flying Doctor Service started, which helps people in remote places by flying doctors to them when they need help. You can visit the amazing Australian Stockman's Hall of Fame to learn about the brave men and women who worked on cattle stations and the history of the Outback. The town is surrounded by wide, flat land with farms and big spaces where people raise cattle.

The weather in Longreach is very hot, especially in the summer. In summer, which is from December to February, the temperatures can get very high, often over 40°C (104°F)! The air is dry and can feel very hot and sticky. There isn’t much rain in summer, but when it does rain, it can be heavy and bring thunderstorms. These storms are short, but they cool things down for a little while.

In winter, from June to August, the weather in Longreach is much cooler and more comfortable. During the day, temperatures are usually around 20°C (68°F), which is perfect for exploring the town and enjoying the outdoors. However, in the evenings and nights, it can get really cold, with temperatures dropping to about 5°C (41°F). If you visit Longreach in winter, you’ll need to wear warm clothes in the evenings but can enjoy the sunshine during the day.
