Josephine Falls
Highlights
Josephine Falls is like a rainforest paradise! Located in Wooroonooran National Park in Queensland, this waterfall is fed by water from Queensland’s tallest mountain, Bartle Frere. The 1.2km return walking trail takes you through lush, world heritage-listed rainforest to viewing decks with stunning views of the falls.
The water flows over smooth granite boulders and forms pools that sparkle in the sunlight. It’s the perfect spot for a picnic or a swim in the designated area. The rainforest around the falls is full of life, so keep your eyes open for colourful birds and other cool creatures!
Did you know that Josephine Falls is part of an ancient landscape? The granite boulders have been shaped over millions of years by rushing water. The rainforest is one of the oldest in the world, so when you visit, it’s like stepping back in time.
Safety is super important here. The water can be fast and dangerous in certain areas, so always follow the signs and stay with your adults. Stick to the paths and enjoy the amazing views!
Adult Supervision Recommended: Water conditions can be unpredictable, and some areas are off-limits. Stay close to your adults to stay safe and have fun.

Guidelines
- Always do some research before heading out for your journey. Visit the parks website for up to date information on the current conditions. Ensure to check for any updates relating to any warnings that may be issued for the area, and check for the opening and closing times.
- Tropical North Queensland is crocodile country. Be croc-wise, particularly around water.
- Wear suitable footwear and ensure to bring a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the elements.
- Plan ahead and ensure to take enough food and water for your journey.
- Always stay on the marked tracks where possible. Never climb fences, they are there for your own safety.

We loved it!!
This has got to be one of our favourite waterfalls in Australia. A car park with picnic area and amenities, a nice little walk through rainforest to the falls. The water is very cool so go on a hot day for a refreshing swim :)
