Woody Island Nature Reserve

Highlights

Located off the coast of Esperance, Woody Island Nature Reserve is a paradise for nature lovers! With crystal-clear waters, amazing marine life, and stunning bushland, it's the perfect spot to hike, swim, snorkel, or just relax. As part of the Recherche Archipelago, Woody Island is the only island in the area that's open to the public via cruise, so you can enjoy its untouched beauty.

Marine creatures like fur seals, dolphins, and even sea lions live in the waters around the island, and if you're lucky, you might spot some while you're swimming or snorkeling! On land, keep an eye out for bandicoots and wallabies. Don’t forget to check out the interpretive centre to learn all about the wildlife. The island is accessible via the Woody Island Eco Tour ferry, which departs from Esperance.
