Wave Rock
Highlights
Imagine standing in front of a giant wave frozen in time – that's what Wave Rock looks like! Located in Hyden, Western Australia, this massive natural rock formation is shaped like a huge wave about to crash. It's over 2,700 million years old, and rising 15 metres high, it’s a spectacular sight you won't forget. The 110-metre-long rock is covered in amazing colours and patterns made by water and minerals over millions of years.
Wave Rock is also surrounded by fun walking trails where you can climb to the top for a fantastic view of the surrounding outback. If you visit after winter rains, you’ll see the area transform into a colourful carpet of wildflowers! Close by, you can discover ancient Aboriginal rock paintings at Mulka’s Cave and learn about the legends that make this area so special. Don’t forget to visit the wildlife park nearby, where you might spot koalas and rare white kangaroos.
Whether you're pretending to surf on the rock or just enjoying a picnic with your family, Wave Rock is a perfect spot for a day of adventure and fun!
