Step back in time at Wallaces Hut, the oldest surviving hut in the Victorian Alps, built in 1889! Nestled among beautiful Snow Gums, this historic hut is a short and easy 700-metre walk along a gravel path from the car park. It’s a great spot to imagine life in the mountains over 100 years ago while enjoying the peaceful grassy plains around the hut.
Before your walk, stop by the information shelter at the car park to learn interesting facts about the Bogong High Plains and the history of the area. Pack a picnic and relax near the hut, or take amazing photos surrounded by the stunning alpine scenery.
Wallaces Hut is a perfect place for a little adventure and to explore some of Victoria’s history in the great outdoors!
