Get ready for an epic adventure at Ubirr Lookout in Kakadu National Park! This place is like stepping into an outdoor museum, with incredible Aboriginal rock art that’s thousands of years old. Follow the easy 1-kilometre walking trail to explore three amazing galleries of rock art.

But the real magic happens when you climb to the top of Ubirr. The view from the rocky outlook is jaw-dropping, with endless floodplains stretching out in every direction. It’s the perfect spot to catch a stunning sunset – don’t forget your camera!

What You Need To know

Guidelines

  • Always do some research before heading out for your journey. Visit the parks website for up to date information on the current conditions. Ensure to check for any updates relating to any warnings that may be issued for the area, and check for the opening and closing times.
  • Ensure you observe all safety signs, and be aware that whenever you are near water in the park, there is a risk of crocs! Kakadu has Crocodile Management Zones to minimise risk to humans. Even in these zones you should be cautious. Crocodile warning signs and Crocodile Management Zones are not found everywhere.
  • Wear suitable footwear and always ensure to bring a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the elements when exploring the Northern Territory.
  • Plan ahead and ensure to take enough food and water for your journey.
  • Always stay on the marked tracks where possible. Never climb fences, they are there for your own safety.
  • Please consider the environment, take your rubbish with you or place in the bins provided. We want to ensure these beautiful places are still here for our future generations to enjoy.
  • National Park fees and camping fees apply to enter Kakadu National Park. Pricing may change at anytime with out notice. See parks website for more details and to pre-book your pass.
  • Do not feed the wildlife.
  • Leave nothing but footprints. Take nothing but memories.
