Discover & Get to Know

Twin Falls Gorge

Highlights

Twin Falls in Kakadu National Park is a must-visit for anyone who loves waterfalls! The two waterfalls split and cascade down a 150-metre cliff into a deep pool. It’s a magical sight, especially if you’re visiting during the dry season when you can walk right to the base of the falls!

You can catch a boat shuttle to get to Twin Falls and then follow a walking track through boulders and sand to the boardwalk. It’s an awesome adventure for kids who love nature and want to see one of the most famous spots in Kakadu!

Adult Supervision Recommended

Stay with an adult when walking and make sure to follow the track signs for safety!

What You Need To know

Guidelines

  • Children under 16 free for the boat shuttle.
  • Always do some research before heading out for your journey. Visit the parks website for up to date information on the current conditions. Ensure to check for any updates relating to any warnings that may be issued for the area, and check for the opening and closing times.
  • Ensure you observe all safety signs, and be aware that whenever you are near water in the park, there is a risk of crocs! Kakadu has Crocodile Management Zones to minimise risk to humans. Even in these zones you should be cautious. Crocodile warning signs and Crocodile Management Zones are not found everywhere.
  • Always enjoy waterfalls from trails and marked viewing points. Do not climb over barriers as cliff edges and slippery surfaces may cause injury or death.
  • Only swim where permitted. Don’t jump from cliff edges into water bodies.
  • Swimming near or under waterfalls can be dangerous due to strong currents, submerged hidden rock ledges and other dangers. The force of a waterfall can be incredibly strong and unfortunately, many people have drowned. Follow warning signs and take caution.
  • Wear suitable footwear and always ensure to bring a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the elements when exploring the Northern Territory.
  • Plan ahead and ensure to take enough food and water for your journey.
  • Always stay on the marked tracks where possible. Never climb fences, they are there for your own safety.
  • Please consider the environment, take your rubbish with you or place in the bins provided. We want to ensure these beautiful places are still here for our future generations to enjoy.
  • National Park fees and camping fees apply. See Kakadu National Park's website for more details.
  • Do not feed the wildlife.
  • Leave nothing but footprints. Take nothing but memories.
