Thorsborne Trail

Highlights

For the ultimate hiking adventure, tackle the Thorsborne Trail on Hinchinbrook Island. This 32km one-way trail takes you through some of Australia’s most breathtaking landscapes, from rugged mountains and lush rainforests to mangroves and sandy beaches. Located within the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, the trail is a nature lover’s dream.

Hiking the Thorsborne Trail is a multi-day experience, typically taking four days to complete. Along the way, you’ll encounter pristine creeks, cascading waterfalls, and stunning views of Hinchinbrook’s dramatic coastline. Keep an eye out for unique wildlife, including birds, fish, and marine creatures, as you explore this untouched wilderness.

The trail is challenging, with rough and uneven paths in some areas. It’s designed for experienced hikers who are well-prepared and self-sufficient. Camping is permitted at designated sites along the trail, and permits must be obtained in advance. Only 40 hikers are allowed on the trail at any time, ensuring a peaceful and low-impact experience.

If you’re seeking an adventure that combines natural beauty, physical challenge, and tranquillity, the Thorsborne Trail is an unforgettable journey.
