The Historic Barwon Bridge
Highlights
Step back in time at the Barwon Bridge! Built in 1889, this incredible bridge used to lift in the middle so paddle steamers could sail through. Imagine two men winding the pulley system to raise the bridge—it’s like something out of a history book! Later, it was upgraded so only one person had to operate it.
This bridge helped open up northwestern New South Wales for travel and trade back in the day. Today, it’s a fantastic spot to watch the sunset or take amazing photos. There’s even a free camping area nearby if you want to stay overnight and enjoy the stars. Perfect for young history buffs and nature lovers!
