Shothole Canyon
Highlights
Shothole Canyon in Cape Range National Park is a stunning place to explore. This scenic gorge is surrounded by rugged limestone walls and is especially colourful in spring when over 630 species of wildflowers bloom. The name “Shothole” comes from the shot holes left during seismic testing in the 1950s.
The 12-kilometre scenic drive takes you along the canyon floor, where you can spot native wildlife like kangaroos, emus, and echidnas. For even better views, take a short hike to the lookout point. Whether you’re here for the scenery, wildlife, or wildflowers, Shothole Canyon is an adventure you won’t want to miss!
Adult Supervision Recommended
The rugged terrain and Class 4 walking trails require caution, so adult supervision is recommended for younger visitors.
