Swing Bridge Loop Walk
Discover one of Hornsby Shire’s most enchanting hidden gems: the Pyes Creek Swing Bridge, a graceful 50-metre pedestrian bridge nestled high in the treetops of Cherrybrook. This low-profile swing bridge was officially opened in June 2023 and offers a serene, elevated walkway that links Keighran Place (Cherrybrook) to Fallon Drive Reserve (Dural). It is a part of the Swing Bridge Loop walk in Cherrybrook.
Why Visit
- Scenic Nature Connection: Walk through a canopy of native bushland above Pyes Creek. The bridge provides an immersive way to connect with nature while minimizing impact on the environment.
- Urban Link: The bridge reconnects walking paths between residential Cherrybrook and Fallon Drive Reserve in Dural, creating a valuable pedestrian link through bushland.
- Sustainable Design: Built with environmental sensitivity in mind — the structure features 10-metre-deep rock anchors (no large concrete footings), hand-assembled high above the creek, and made with galvanised steel cross beams and FRP mini-mesh decking.
- Community Legacy: Funded by the NSW Government under the Public Spaces Legacy Program, this bridge is envisioned as a long-lasting asset for local residents and nature lovers.
Why It’s on the Aussie Bucket List
The Pyes Creek Swing Bridge is more than just a piece of infrastructure — it’s a symbol of sustainable community design. By blending into the bushland and preserving the natural environment, it offers both recreation and practical connectivity. Whether you’re a keen walker, a photographer, a nature lover, or someone who just wants to experience tranquility above a creek, this elevated walkway is a must-visit in Hornsby Shire.
The Pye's Creek Swing Bridge was designed and constructed by FORGE.
