Penguin Island Boardwalks and Walk Trail
Highlights
Penguin Island is an amazing spot for kids and teens who love wildlife and the outdoors! Located near Rockingham in Western Australia, this island is home to the largest colony of Little Penguins. The 1.5km loop trail takes you through the island's beautiful scenery, where you can learn about the unique plants and animals.
The boardwalks are wheelchair accessible and connect the jetty, picnic areas, and Discovery Centre. Don't forget to grab a booklet at the Discovery Centre to guide your adventure—it’s full of fun facts and maps! Since the island is a bird sanctuary, be sure to stick to the trails and designated beaches.
Penguin Island is only open during the day, and ferries run from mid-September to early June. It’s a fun, educational day out for the whole family!
