Newland Head Conservation Park is a paradise for nature lovers! It’s home to two stunning beaches—Waitpinga and Parsons—and rugged cliffs that offer spectacular views of Kangaroo Island and Encounter Bay. The park is perfect for fishing, hiking, and camping under the stars.
The walking trails here take you through rolling hills and coastal vegetation, where you can spot wildlife like kangaroos and colourful birds. After a day of exploring, set up camp at Waitpinga Campground and fall asleep to the sound of waves crashing on the shore.
Just remember, the beaches aren’t safe for swimming due to strong rips, so stick to the sand or try your hand at beach fishing instead!

- Due to strong rips and hidden gutters, the park's beaches are not suitable for swimming.
- Vehicle entry to this park is free, however fees apply for camping.
- Stay safe and get the most out of your visit by preparing for natural hazards and other outdoor risks. You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of those in your care.
- Wear suitable footwear and ensure to wear appropriate clothing to protect yourself from the elements.
- Plan ahead and ensure to take enough food and water for your journey.
- Always stay on the marked tracks where possible. Never climb fences, they are there for your own safety.
- Please consider the environment, take your rubbish with you or place in the bins provided. We want to ensure these beautiful places are still here for our future generations to enjoy.
- Ensure to let a responsible adult know of your plans and report back into them once you have finished exploring for the day.
