Murphy's Haystacks

Highlights

Murphy’s Haystacks on the Eyre Peninsula are like giant boulders that look like they’ve been placed there by magic! These unusual rock formations are over 100,000 years old and have been shaped by the wind into tall, wobbly shapes that kids will think are straight out of a storybook.

Legend says a traveller once thought the rocks were stacks of hay from a distance – and that’s how they got their name! Bring a picnic and explore the area, especially at sunset when the rocks turn a beautiful orange colour. It’s perfect for a fun family outing or taking cool photos.
