Manngarre Rainforest Walk

Highlights

The Manngarre Rainforest Walk is a peaceful journey through Kakadu’s monsoon rainforest and along the East Alligator River. This trail features three loops, ranging from 600 metres to 1.5 kilometres, and an elevated viewing platform where you can take in stunning views of the river.

Fun fact: Aboriginal people have lived in this area for thousands of years, relying on the river and surrounding landscapes for food and shelter. Guided walks are available on Fridays, providing fascinating insights into the region’s cultural heritage.

What You Need To know

Guidelines

  • Always do some research before heading out for your journey. Visit the parks website for up to date information on the current conditions. Ensure to check for any updates relating to any warnings that may be issued for the area, and check for the opening and closing times.
  • Ensure you observe all safety signs, and be aware that whenever you are near water in the park, there is a risk of crocs! Kakadu has Crocodile Management Zones to minimise risk to humans. Even in these zones you should be cautious. Crocodile warning signs and Crocodile Management Zones are not found everywhere.
  • Wear suitable footwear and always ensure to bring a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the elements when exploring the Northern Territory.
  • Plan ahead and ensure to take enough food and water for your journey.
  • Always stay on the marked tracks where possible. Never climb fences, they are there for your own safety.
  • Please consider the environment, take your rubbish with you or place in the bins provided. We want to ensure these beautiful places are still here for our future generations to enjoy.
  • National Park fees and camping fees may apply. See parks website for more details.
  • Do not feed the wildlife.
  • Leave nothing but footprints. Take nothing but memories.
