Discover & Get to Know

Maddens Falls

Highlights

Maddens Falls is a beautiful natural escape near Sydney, perfect for nature lovers and families. The 1.3km return walk from the car park takes you to a lookout with scenic views of the waterfall as it cascades from Maddens Creek into pools below.

The trail is easy and ideal for kids. Along the way, you might spot local birds like honeyeaters and red wattlebirds, or hear the croaks of tree frogs. Springtime is especially vibrant, with colourful flowers like native river roses and acacias adding to the beauty. Don’t miss the rare fern-leaf grevillea with its striking red flowers!

After enjoying the falls, relax at the nearby picnic area for a peaceful lunch surrounded by nature.

What You Need To know

Guidelines

  • Always do some research before heading out for your journey. Visit the parks website for the most up to date information.
  • Always enjoy waterfalls from trails and marked viewing points. Do not climb over barriers as cliff edges and slippery surfaces may cause injury or death.
  • Only swim where permitted. Don’t jump from cliff edges into water bodies.
  • Swimming near or under waterfalls can be dangerous due to strong currents, submerged hidden rock ledges and other dangers. The force of a waterfall can be incredibly strong and unfortunately, many people have drowned. Follow warning signs and take caution.
  • Ensure you observe all safety signs. Always stay on the marked tracks where possible. Never climb fences, they are there for your own safety.
  • Wear suitable footwear and always ensure to bring a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the elements when exploring Australia.
  • Plan ahead and ensure to take enough food and water for your journey.
  • Please consider the environment, take your rubbish with you or place in the bins provided. We want to ensure these beautiful places are still here for our future generations to enjoy.
  • Please do not feed the wildlife.
  • Leave nothing but footprints. Take nothing but memories.
