Macquarie Lighthouse
Highlights
Macquarie Lighthouse is Australia’s oldest lighthouse, still standing tall as a beacon of history and navigation. Built in 1818 and rebuilt in 1883, it was designed by convict architect Francis Greenway, who earned a pardon for his exceptional work.
Take a guided tour to discover the fascinating history of the lighthouse and climb 100 steps to enjoy panoramic views of Sydney Harbour. Tours run every two months for a small fee, while the grounds are free to explore year-round. Add this historic landmark to your bucket list as part of the Great Coastal Walk along Sydney’s stunning southeast shoreline.
