Kubara Pools Walk

Highlights

The Kubara Pools Walk in Kakadu National Park is a hidden gem, offering a peaceful trek through savanna woodlands, sandstone landscapes, and rainforest. The 6-kilometre return trail is most popular during the wet season when the pools and waterfalls come alive with vibrant colours.

Fun fact: Depending on the season, you can see water lilies, orchids, and even bright red swamp bloodwoods along the trail. It’s a perfect spot for a picnic and some quiet time surrounded by nature.

Adult Supervision Recommended

The trail can be challenging, so having an adult with you ensures a safe and enjoyable adventure.

What You Need To know

Guidelines

  • Always do some research before heading out for your journey. Visit the parks website for up to date information on the current conditions. Ensure to check for any updates relating to any warnings that may be issued for the area, and check for the opening and closing times.
  • Ensure you observe all safety signs, and be aware that whenever you are near water in the park, there is a risk of crocs! Kakadu has Crocodile Management Zones to minimise risk to humans. Even in these zones you should be cautious. Crocodile warning signs and Crocodile Management Zones are not found everywhere.
  • Wear suitable footwear and always ensure to bring a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the elements when exploring the Northern Territory.
  • Plan ahead and ensure to take enough food and water for your journey.
  • Always stay on the marked tracks where possible. Never climb fences, they are there for your own safety.
  • Please consider the environment, take your rubbish with you or place in the bins provided. We want to ensure these beautiful places are still here for our future generations to enjoy.
  • National Park fees and camping fees may apply. See parks website for more details.
  • Do not feed the wildlife.
  • Leave nothing but footprints. Take nothing but memories.
