Katoomba Falls - Furber Steps

Highlights

Get ready for an adventure in the Blue Mountains! The Furber Steps take you deep into the magical Jamison Valley, where you’ll find amazing views of Mount Solitary, the Three Sisters, and the sparkling Katoomba Falls. The walk is 2.4 kilometres return and takes about two hours, perfect for young explorers with lots of energy.

If your legs get tired, you can ride the Scenic Railway or Scenic Cableway back to the top (how cool is that?). Just make sure you time your walk so you don’t miss the last train. This track is rated as Grade 3, so bring an adult along to guide you through the lush rainforest paths.

Adult Supervision Recommended

The Furber Steps are steep and can be challenging, so it’s important to have an adult with you for safety.

What You Need To know

Guidelines

  • Always do some research before heading out for your journey. Visit the parks website for the most up to date information.
  • Always enjoy waterfalls from trails and marked viewing points. Do not climb over barriers as cliff edges and slippery surfaces may cause injury or death.
  • Only swim where permitted. Don’t jump from cliff edges into water bodies.
  • Swimming near or under waterfalls can be dangerous due to strong currents, submerged hidden rock ledges and other dangers. The force of a waterfall can be incredibly strong and unfortunately, many people have drowned. Follow warning signs and take caution.
  • Ensure you observe all safety signs. Always stay on the marked tracks where possible. Never climb fences, they are there for your own safety.
  • Wear suitable footwear and always ensure to bring a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the elements when exploring Australia.
  • Plan ahead and ensure to take enough food and water for your journey.
  • Please consider the environment, take your rubbish with you or place in the bins provided. We want to ensure these beautiful places are still here for our future generations to enjoy.
  • Parking, camping and national park fees may apply. See parks website for more details.
  • Please do not feed the wildlife.
