Kakadu National Park
Highlights
Kakadu National Park is a World Heritage-listed wonderland filled with incredible wildlife, ancient rock art, and stunning landscapes. Spanning nearly 20,000 square kilometres, it’s home to crocodiles, colourful birds, and some of the oldest cultural stories in the world.
Fun fact: The Aboriginal people have lived in Kakadu for over 65,000 years, making it one of the longest continuous cultures on Earth. Explore rock art sites, take a 4WD adventure, or hike through the park’s breathtaking scenery. There’s something for everyone!
Adult Supervision RecommendedThe park’s remote and rugged areas require careful planning and adult supervision for a safe and fun visit.

What You Need To know
Guidelines
- Always do some research before heading out for your journey. Visit the parks website for up to date information on the current conditions. Ensure to check for any updates relating to any warnings that may be issued for the area, and check for the opening and closing times.
- Ensure you observe all safety signs, and be aware that whenever you are near water in the park, there is a risk of crocs! Kakadu has Crocodile Management Zones to minimise risk to humans. Even in these zones you should be cautious. Crocodile warning signs and Crocodile Management Zones are not found everywhere.
- Wear suitable footwear and always ensure to bring a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the elements when exploring the Northern Territory.
- Plan ahead and ensure to take enough food and water for your journey.
- Always stay on the marked tracks where possible. Never climb fences, they are there for your own safety.
- Please consider the environment, take your rubbish with you or place in the bins provided. We want to ensure these beautiful places are still here for our future generations to enjoy.
- National Park fees and camping fees may apply. See parks website for more up to date details.
- Do not feed the wildlife.
- Leave nothing but footprints. Take nothing but memories.
