Illawong Walk
Highlights
Get ready for an adventure through the magical alpine wilderness on the Illawong Walk! This 5-kilometre return trail starts in the charming Guthega Village and takes you along the Snowy River Valley, surrounded by tall snow gums and beautiful wildflowers. It’s like stepping into a fairytale!
On your way, you’ll see colourful birds like crimson rosellas and gang-gang cockatoos, and maybe even spot a wombat or echidna. When it’s warm, you can dip your toes in the cooling waters of the Snowy River. At the end of the trail, you’ll find the historic Illawong Hut – a perfect spot for a picnic among nature’s beauty.

What You Need To know

- Ensure to check the relevant website for any updates relating to any warnings that may be issued for the area, admission prices, opening and closing times.
- Wear suitable footwear and ensure to bring a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the elements.
- Plan ahead and ensure to take enough food and water for your journey.
- Always stay on the marked tracks where possible. Never climb fences, they are there for your own safety.
- Please consider the environment, take your rubbish with you or place in the bins provided. We want to ensure these beautiful places are still here for our future generations to enjoy.
- Ensure to let a responsible adult know of your plans and report back into them once you have finished exploring for the day.
