Discover & Get to Know

Highfield Historic Site

Highlights

Ever wondered what life was like in the 1800s? At Highfield Historic Site, you can travel back in time to explore a gentleman’s home and farm from nearly 200 years ago. Perched on a hill, it has amazing views of Stanley, The Nut, and the Bass Strait!

This place has convict barracks, stables, barns, and even a chapel. Did you know it was built in 1832 by Edward Curr, the chief agent of the Van Diemen’s Land Company? The house and gardens are super cool to explore, and you can learn all about the people who lived and worked here.

Whether you’re imagining life as a settler or enjoying a picnic in the gardens, this spot is packed with history and fun!
