Discover & Get to Know

Frenchman Peak

Highlights

Frenchman Peak, located in Cape Le Grand National Park, is a unique granite formation with a fascinating history. Named for its resemblance to the hats worn by French troops, the peak features a large cave near the summit formed by underwater currents millions of years ago.

The hike to the summit is challenging but rewarding, with panoramic views of the park, southern coastline, and Recherche Archipelago. Remember to follow the marked trail and avoid shortcuts, as the steep terrain can be tricky, especially in wet or windy weather. This spot, known as Mandooboornup to the local Aboriginal people, holds cultural significance in their traditions.

Adult Supervision Recommended

The steep and exposed sections of the trail require caution, making adult supervision essential for safety.
