Federal Falls
Highlights
The Federal Falls track takes you through snow gum forests and past huge rock faces to reach the magnificent Federal Falls. It’s an awesome place to see after a rainstorm when the waterfall is at its most powerful! Along the way, you’ll spot colourful flowers, fluttering butterflies, and listen to the sweet sounds of native birds.
For a fun adventure, you can walk the loop track or simply take the northern route for a quick visit to the falls. Either way, it’s a beautiful place to explore, and you’ll feel like you’re on a real wilderness adventure!
Adult Supervision Recommended
Because of the steep areas and uneven paths, it’s a good idea to have an adult with you to make sure you stay safe while enjoying the falls and surrounding nature.

What You Need To know
Guidelines
- Always do some research before heading out for your journey. Visit the parks website for up to date information on the current conditions.
- Because of the altitude, the weather can change quite quickly. You should always check the weather forecast before setting out for a walk.
- The walk starts and finishes at Federal Falls campground .
- Most of the walk is easy, however the last 336m of the walk is a very steep incline down to the falls and while there is a rail to assist, it should only be attempted by confident walkers.
- Roads may close when it snows (generally once or twice each winter).
- Wear suitable footwear and ensure to bring a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the elements.
- Plan ahead and ensure to take enough food and water for your journey.
- Always stay on the marked tracks where possible. Never climb fences, they are there for your own safety.
- Please consider the environment, take your rubbish with you or place in the bins provided. We want to ensure these beautiful places are still here for our future generations to enjoy.
- Ensure to let a responsible adult know of your plans and report back into them once you have finished exploring for the day.
- National park and camping fees may apply, check the parks website for bookings and further details.
