Get ready to explore the amazing Butterfly Gorge Nature Park, where thousands of butterflies fill the air! The gorge is a peaceful place, surrounded by tall trees and rock pools, and you can swim in the cool water or relax by the shade of paperbark trees. It’s a perfect spot for a family adventure!
The park is home to many other exciting creatures too, like birds and small reptiles, so be sure to keep your eyes open. If you're into four-wheel driving, you can even take a thrilling ride through the rugged tracks to get there!

Getting There
- Travel 200km south from Darwin, or 150km north from Katherine. The last 17km is a 4WD track, so be prepared for an adventure!

- Stay safe and get the most out of your visit by preparing for natural hazards and other outdoor risks. You are responsible for your own safety and the safety of those in your care.
- Observe park safety signs and swim only where recommended, look out for warning signs.
- Wear suitable footwear and ensure to wear appropriate clothing to protect yourself from the elements when outside exploring. Avoid strenuous activity during the heat of the day
- Plan ahead and ensure to take enough food and water for your journey.
- Always stay on the marked tracks where possible. Never climb fences, they are there for your own safety.
- Please consider the environment, take your rubbish with you or place in the bins provided. We want to ensure these beautiful places are still here for our future generations to enjoy.
- Ensure to let a responsible adult know of your plans and report back into them once you have finished exploring for the day.
