Blue Lake
Highlights
Blue Lake is like stepping into a magical fairy tale! Hidden in the Snowy Mountains, this bright blue gem was carved out by glaciers thousands of years ago. It’s one of only four lakes in Australia shaped like an amphitheatre. If you’re lucky, you might spot some amazing animals like the tiny mountain pygmy possum or a cheeky bird called the broad-toothed mouse. The area is so special it’s protected as a UNESCO biosphere reserve. The walk to the lake is an adventure too—cross the famous Snowy River and enjoy stunning views of the rugged mountains!
Adult Supervision Recommended: The trail to Blue Lake can be challenging and remote. Adults should accompany children to ensure their safety.
