Kids will love floating along the gentle current or taking a short walk along the 500m loop trail to explore more of the area. Bring your snorkel for an underwater adventure and see how many fish you can spot!

What You Need To know

Guidelines

  • Always do some research before heading out for your journey. Visit the parks website for up to date information on the current conditions. Ensure to check for any updates relating to any warnings that may be issued for the area, and check for the opening and closing times.
  • Ensure you observe all safety signs, and be aware that whenever you are near water in the NT, there is a risk of crocs! Crocodile warning signs and Crocodile Management Zones are not found everywhere.
  • Wear suitable footwear and always ensure to bring a hat and sunscreen to protect yourself from the elements when exploring the Northern Territory.
  • Plan ahead and ensure to take enough food and water for your journey.
  • Always stay on the marked tracks where possible. Never climb fences, they are there for your own safety.
  • Please consider the environment, take your rubbish with you or place in the bins provided. We want to ensure these beautiful places are still here for our future generations to enjoy.

    Bitter Springs is in Elsey National Park, Northern Territory. You can get there by driving two kilometres east of Mataranka on Martin Road. Keep an eye out for the big sign so you don’t miss it!

    Bitter Springs’ 34 °C spring-fed pools wind through palms just two kilometres from Mataranka. It’s a great spot for family photos and making holiday memories.

  • Do we have to pay any money?

    An NT Parks day-use fee applies; pay at the onsite machine. Even if you don’t need tickets, it’s smart to bring a little pocket money for ice-creams, drinks or souvenirs nearby.
